No Pakistan is unaware of the tragic extra-judicial murder of 27-year-old Naqibullah Mehsud in Karachi. Naqib was a cloth merchant who was picked up by Rao Anwar and his team, before they took Naqib’s life and staged it as an encounter.

After Chief Justice Saqib Nisar gave Sindh police 3 days to trace Rao Anwar, the department failed at the orders. Subsequently, the CJ has given AD Khowaja and company another 10 days to locate Anwar and bring him in.

However, the slow response and lackluster tactics to arrest Rao Anwar are not going too well with the Pakhtun community of Pakistan. Currently, thousands of people are sitting in Islamabad, protesting against the murder of Naqibullah and the genocide of Pashtuns in Pakistan.

Mainstream media has decided to stay away from the protest, but uploads and information on social media suggest that it is one of the largest ‘dharnas’ that have been held in the capital city of the country. The protest is going on in front of Islamabad Press Club.

No facilities or security has been provided by the government to the thousands of people who wait for justice in the Naqibullah murder case. All the people have come to Islamabad from different parts of Pakistan, especially from the tribal areas of Pakistan.

Naqibullah’s family is angered at the slow response of Pakistan police in arrested disgraced cop Rao Anwar and have pleaded to the Chief Justice to help increase the speed of the process. Pakhtun political parties also seem to be on the same front in the issue, united in the case of justice for Naqibullah Mehsud, setting their differences aside.

Naqib’s family questioned the police in a press conference, that was Rao Anwar so strong that he could hide from the best intelligence agency of the world, along with its wing-chapters? Further stating that Anwar telling a tv channel that “Alhamdullillah! I am in Pakistan,” was like rubbing salt on their fresh wounds.

Even though the whole country is looking for Rao Anwar, who is responsible for killing over 250 people extra-judicially, the absconder seems to have found the perfect place to hide, as even our intelligence agencies have not been able to locate him.

This is the first time that the common Pashtun of Pakistan has taken to the streets for justice. It is the State’s responsibility to not let them return empty-handed, otherwise it would deal great damage to the resolving tribal conflict in Pakistan, giving birth to problems the State won’t be able to deal with.
