Pakistan in 2012 has been a victim of several brutal incidents which had literally shaken the general public. Considered to be one of the worst years in the country’s history, Pakistanis surely have some negative collection of events from the past. Inflation, failed policy implementation, failures of law enforcement agencies, the year has saved it all.
A tragic incident from December of 2012 which remained in the news for a long time was of Shahzeb Khan, a university student who was brutally lynched to death. The incident took place in Karachi’s Clifton area where Shahzeb Khan was shot down by Shahrukh Jatoi who is said to be the son of a feudal lord. Three other names Siraj Talpur, Sajjad Talpur, and Ghulam Murtaza Lashari were also an accomplice in the case.

However, as the case broke out in the general public, it took an uproar and people started demanding justice for Shahzeb. Many protests were recorded by Pakistanis and everyone just wanted the culprits to get punished. After some time, Shahrukh Jatoi along with the three accomplices was arrested from the Supreme Court premises and was given a death sentence along with Siraj Ali Talpur. The other two were awarded life term sentences by the court.
As the filthy wealth has power, Jatoi was provided with every ounce of luxury in his cell. Refrigerator, television, cell phone and everything related to his comfort were present inside. Later on, Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Saqib Nasir did a surprise visit to the Karachi Central Jail and found out about the VIP facilities Jatoi had been receiving. After his visit, Shahrukh Jatoi was shifted to the death cell on his orders. The Pakistanis were satisfied by CJP’s decision and justice was prevailing.
Eventually, the family of the 20-year-old Shahzeb was being pressurized by the well-off Jatoi’s to step back. The family of the victim later pardoned the Jatoi and other culprits involved. An affidavit was presented in front of the Sindh High Court (SHC) by the family that they have pardoned the culprits without any pressure.

Earlier today, the news broke into the media that the death sentence of Shahrukh Jatoi has been commuted with life imprisonment. The decision was not taken well by the awaam and people have questions. Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar had announced the verdict as the member of the bench of the Sindh High Court (SHC). Former CJP had previously directed that the final verdict to the case should be given within 3 months.
The verdict left the Pakistani awaam with sheer disappointment and it’s a tight slap in the face of law enforcing agencies prevailing in Sindh.
SHC changes Shahrukh Jatoi’s death sentence to life imprisonment..

Justice for sale?
Shahrukh Jatoi, a Wadera teen who brutally murdered Shahzeb Khan for protecting his sister, is no longer on death row. The courts have overturned his death sentence and reduced it to life imprisonment.#JusticeForSale
