Where the progress of this nation seems to be at a standstill, at least the government has taken productive steps in one of the most crucial areas of any country and that is education. Previously, Prime Minister Imran Khan approved of the programme aimed towards the talented youth of Pakistan called ‘Wazir-i-Azam Kamyab Naujawan Programme (WAKNP)’. This programme is initiated to provide financial aid, job opportunities and trainings for professional skills that are important for a successful career.

In continuation of this, the federal cabinet has approved Rs100b for Kamyab Jawan programme, under which the youth will be given loans between Rs100,000 to Rs5 million on terms and conditions that are easy.

Dr. Firdous Asiq Awan, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on Information and Broadcasting shared, “More than 65 percent of the population is between the ages of 18 and 35,”. While women make the 52 percent of the population, hence, 25 percent of the allocated amount is reserved for them, she added.

Inflation and unemployment will be reduced through this programme that is being said is an economic revolution by Dr. Awan.  According to her, this proramme will provide job opportunities to the young. It will also help the country uplifting the economic devastation, boosting it instead. It will enable the youth to be self-employed and finance themselves as well, says Ashiq Awan.

She also mentioned that the loans given to the youth between Rs100,000 to Rs500,000 would possess a 6 percent interest rate and equity of Rs50,000. “Loans more than Rs500,000 to Rs5 million would be lent on eight percent mark-up with 20 percent equity paid by the applicant”, said Dr. Awan.

For the first time in Pakistan, A Prime Minister’s Youth Portal is established where the youth can directly send in their feedback and suggestions regarding the development and progress of the country.

Meanwhile, Federal Education Minister Shafqat Mehmood briefed the cabinet about the plans to increase the literacy rate and to provide vocational training and skills to the students, SAPM said. He will also be briefing the media about the important features of the programme that is launched in the coming days.
