After the biggest decision the Supreme Court of Pakistan took since its inception, the country was left celebrating while the ruling party ended up flabbergasted. The Ex-Prime Minister of Pakistan, Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif was denounced as the country’s PM, being disqualified.

Ever since Nawaz Sharif’s disqualification, there has been just one sentence on his lips, which has become a national joke now. The Ex-PM goes from city to city, asking just one question, “Mujhe Kyun Nikaala?” (Why was I disqualified?) — to which, the country told him that it was on the charges of embezzlement and tax fraud.

However, Nawaz Sharif was not convinced with the answer, along with his party, the PML-N. Now, the Supreme Court of Pakistan has come up with a detailed version of the decision which led to the disqualification of the former PM in the Panama Leaks tax fraud case.

According to the Supreme Court, Nawaz Sharif hid his assets (mainly the London flats) deliberately. Before the 2013 elections, the Election Commission of Pakistan asked every politician of the country to declare all their assets, but Nawaz Sharif, who held the office for 4 years as PM, failed to do so.

Furthermore, to hide these assets and his wrongdoings, Nawaz Sharif came up with a multitude of fake documents and letters that tried to derail the process of accountability. Not just this, but Maryam Nawaz’s stance on her not being the beneficial owner of the London flats, which the whole family backed, also led to the PM’s disqualification.

Literally, everything the Sharif family said in court was false and fake. All their documents, statements, letters — everything went against them and the 5-member bench was intellectual enough to see where Nawaz Sharif was trying to dodge them.

So the next time you hear Nawaz Sharif say “Mujhe Kyun Nikaala?” anywhere, you would know exactly why the Supreme Court had disqualified him.
