Thanks to social media, no story is away from the common man’s reach these days. Due to the immense crackdown on child sexual abuse, every perpetrator is under surveillance and the police is playing in active role.

After little Zainab’s rape and murder, police departments all over Pakistan have been alert when it comes to sexual abuse with children. Another similar story has taken main stage, this time, from Islamabad.

According to DailyPakistan, a case was registered against Qari Aslam in the Koral Police Station of Islamabad, registered by the father of a 12-year-old boy who is also a Philippine international.

As per the child’s father, he and his family were on vacations from Philippines, living in Islamabad. While here, the parents decided that their son should go to a local Madrassah to read the Quran and learn it. Thus, the father of the child decided to send his son to Qari Aslam’s Madrassah.

However, after a few days, the 12-year-old child told his father he would not go to the Madrassah anymore. Upon scrutinizing, the son told his father that the Qari sahab took him into his room, threatened him with a knife and then started foul-play, sexually abusing the child.

Angry at the issue, the father of the child took one of his neighbors along and confronted the Qari inside his Madrassah. At this, the guilt-struck Qari fled the scene and went into hiding. The child’s father then went on and registered an FIR against Qari Aslam.

The police, alert as ever, successfully arrested Qari Aslam along with some other men from a hotel near Khanna Pull. The police also arrested the people who helped Qari Aslam escape from the Madrassah. The father of the child told police that his children were Philippines international and he made a huge mistake by sending his son to the local Islamic center.

Once a taboo, sexual abuse in Madrassahs are now evident and every Pakistani pretty much knows that this heinous vice exists in our society and our learning centers. A complete revamping of Pakistan’s Madrassah system is needed, which would not only counter sexual abuse against children, but also subdue the extremist mindset that is set in the feeble brains of students who study there.

After his arrest, Qari Aslam accepted his crime and showed great remorse at his moment of frustration. The culprit is now under police custody and will be punished according to the laws of the land.
