In today’s news, that has taken the nation by storm, PMLN’s Khawaja Asif has been disqualified by the Islamabad High Court. Khawaja Asif previously served the nation as the foreign minister of Pakistan and also holds a prominent position in the party.
IHC as ruled Asif out of the parliament for holding work permit (Iqama) of the United Arab Emirates. According to IHC, Asif was not qualified to take part in the 2013 general elections from NA 110 as he did not meet the conditions of Article 62(1)(f) of the Act of 1976.
Conclusively, this verdict discards the position of Asif to hold a position in the public and party office.
According to Asif, he declared his Iqama to the Election Commission of Pakistan, which is why he will contest the decision made by IHC.
