Pakistanis On The Internet Are Shaming Maryam Nawaz For Liking ‘This’ Tweet!

Maryam Nawaz, the name of courage for some and hatred for others in Pakistan. The recently acquited lady from jail has remained deactivated on Twitter since long but today she stormed social media by liking and reacting to the tweet of Khadim Hussain Rizvi, the man of the hour.

In a tweet, Khadim Hussain Rizvi addressed the Prime Minister and stated that supporting a blasphemous lady who disrespected Prophet Muhammad was not serving Islam. The like on the tweet got a plethora of reactions on social media – some spoke in favor of the ex-ruling party leader, while others took it is an opportunity to further thrash the Sharifs.

Allegedly, Maryam Nawaz liked the above mentioned tweet, which the general public did not take to too kindly. People stated that Maryam always posed as a liberal, but due to her hate for the government, she currently stands with the fanatics. Previously, her husband, Captain Safdar also sided with those who wanted the blasphemy law strengthened.

Although the official stance of PML-N is against Tehreek e Labaik (TLP) as stated by Khawja Saad Rafiq in yesterday’s session of the National assembly, Maryam Nawaz’s tweet is a 180 degree opposite of the official stance of the party. Maryam Nawaz is yet to confirm her stance as the tweet is not available on her official account. 

This has incited a new debate on social media that her account may have been misused, compromised or it was fabricated to further diminish the charm of the lady. Several reactions are recorded on social media – here are a few of them.

The issue has become a burning debate in Pakistan. PML-N’s leadership along with Maryam Nawaz is yet to respond to this virtual allegation. However, many believe that she unliked the tweet after immense debate spured on social media.

It is pertinent to add here that ever since Maryam Nawaz Sharif had been prosecuted and taken in, the PML-N leader has stopped tweeting from her personal profile. To say, while using Twitter, she might have mistakenly liked the photo is also a possibility, as in the past, many celebrities have come under fire for liking ‘debatable’ tweets.
