Social media has enabled everyone to openly express their opinions, thoughts, and feelings. Online platforms are now more powerful than any other form of media. Through this very social networking platforms revolutions were initiated and fueled. Take a recent example for instance, in Pakistan where the poor and powerless people, when wronged, are almost never provided justice or heard unless someone with authority and power steps in. But we have seen that when everyone unites on social media and starts demanding justice for those helpless victims, our authorities instantly take notice and become active.

Every person has their own set of values, mindsets, and lifestyle; so when an incident takes place in any country, all sorts of opinions are received online, debates are initiated and verbal jabs are made. On Pakistani Twitter, a recorded incident from a reputable university LUMS has the awaam triggered online.

‘We go to University for higher education not vulgarity’

Some are with the opinion that this activity shouldn’t have taken place in the holy month of Ramadan.

According to this user, they shouldn’t have sneakily made a video and uploaded it for the whole world to see. Instead, should have preached them in private.

Someone showed gratitude for belonging to the middle-class if upper-class society indulges in such affairs during Ramadan.

The occasion is being referred to as ‘Pink Day’ celebrated by the students of LUMS clad in Pink attires and are dancing away enjoying themselves. This has sparked an online debate and clash of different opinions where it can be observed are largely of three types: The ‘defensive’ stance, the ‘Islamic state’ argument and the ‘the month of Ramadan’ reasoning.
