Benazir Bhutto’s Assassination Case: The Verdict has Disappointed a Few Pakistanis

It’s been 10 years now since Benazir Bhutto was assassinated on December 27, 2007, in Rawalpindi. She had the title of being Pakistan’s first women prime minister and inspired trillions for being so strong and confident. Many Pakistanis still mourn over the death of the dream of what this nation might have been like if she would have ruled. Her legacy after all these years has still continued to hold a special place in the history of the world.

Finally, after a long wait, the Anti-Terrorism court of Pakistan started hearing the assignation case of Benazir Bhutto on Monday and decided to conduct daily proceedings from Tuesday in furtherance to complete the investigation as soon as possible.According to of the verdict of the murder case the ex-military leader, Pervez Musharraf has been claimed to be an absconder and must be arrested plus brought to trial if he returns back to Pakistan. Along with that, the court has also ordered to seize Musharraf’s property in Pakistan.

Musharraf’s government accused Baitullah Mehsud who was the chief of TTP Pakistan but he denied any involvement and was killed in 2009 by United States drone attack. Five suspects have been cleared along with two senior officers named Saud Aziz and Khurram Shahzad who have been jailed for 17 years for being accused in the case in 2010. There were several reasons for the case to be delayed and by far 8 different judges heard the case and 8 sheets were filed by the prosecution.
