One cruel and sadistic incident after another, it seems that writing such news stories have become a part of our destiny, a daily routine. After Zainab and Asma, a mother and daughter in Punjab have been subjected to a gang-rape by 10 men.
As per news reported on Express Tribune, another family was destroyed this week, as 10 men subjected a mother and her young daughter to rape in front of the child’s grandparents in Muzaffarabad, Punjab.
The heart-wrenching incident took place on Tuesday night and the local police registered a case against the accused on Wednesday. The 10 men involved belonged to an influential local tribe and the reason for this inhumane action is still to be investigated.
The woman and her young daughter were living at her parents house, due to the woman’s husband being away on work, stationed out of town. The 10 men attacked the woman’s parents’ house, and took the mother and daughter to nearby fields, where they were raped all night, in front of the woman’s parents.
The men left them in critical condition at the break of dawn. The alleged assailants in the case are Khizar, Bilal, Amir, Asif, Kamran and Imran, plus four other unnamed men. They subjected the mother and daughter to brutal torture after they resisted rape.
Over the past few weeks, reports of rape and sexual abuse have increased in Pakistan, ever since Zainab Ansari’s case found the limelight. People across Pakistan, both part of the State and civil society, have raised their voices against the inhumane practice of rape and torture, especially against children.
After Zainab, little Asma’s rape and murder in Mardan district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is in line. People of KPK have been demanding justice in her case. As for this mother and daughter, police have launched an FIR and the investigation has begun.
Investigation officials and security agencies need to arrest these culprits soon, so that an example can be made out of them as well. Influential people in rural areas of Pakistan think they are all-in-all authorities and no law is above them. It is time to teach them a lesson they will never forget.
