Bahria University Karachi Campus aims to provide its students the knowledge of community services program (CSP). The Department of Media Studies invited Dr. Amjad Saqib who is the chairman of Akhuwat Foundation, a welfare organization which has the World’s largest interest-free microfinance system with the aim of alleviating poverty, empowerment and building an entrepreneurial potential.

Dr. Amjad Saqib illustrated, Akhuwat speaks about the thoughts, desires, and philosophy as an organization which provokes individual to stand for human primary rights. He shared CSP has vanished from our culture and traditions as compared to the inception of Islam. He further said we can reach our destination and achieve milestones very smoothly only if we understand the importance of purpose, objectives, and vision.

He beautifully illustrated the journey of Akhuwat foundation, which highlights the story of a woman who survived, built and established herself with the help of small loan as she was the only bread earner and a major support to 3 kids after the death of her husband. Dr. Amjad Saqib elaborated the consequences our society faces by having no particular financial resources. The citizens of Pakistan are adroit and have potential too but lack of financial resources put a stop to their dreams.

Furthermore, he shared the financial sector of Akhuwat Foundation in which he mentioned that the organization has received Rs.50 billion as donation till today and this amount was further distributed in 21 lakh people who are skillful but lack in powerful resources like cash and small equipment. 99.9% loans are returned back to these people within few months or years. Akhuwat foundation has no documentation process for providing loans to needy people they believe on the element of trust and honesty.

During the session, Dr. Amjad Saqib raised a powerful question for participants that when a loan can be interest-free than why not have school fees absolutely free? Akhuwat Foundation expanded their welfare project that includes a sector of educational development. Akhuwat College for boys has 300+ students enrolled. People donated bricks for the college to Akhuwat Foundation which cost Rs.1000 per brick, each brick will have the name of the institute or individual by whom it is donated.

Akhuwat has been focused on making education accessible to the poorest of the poor. It believes that every child deserves a chance to be educated; not only is it promoting learning in terms of the regular curriculum, it also aims to fine-tune its students to become productive. Akhuwat foundation also has non-financial methods of funding which includes volunteering services.

Dr. Amjad Saqib lastly added that Akhuwat Foundation was established 16 years back in 2001. Be a dreamer because your dream will never let you sleep. Think for yourself and for your surroundings, struggle for your dreams by maintaining your devotion. Maintain your integrity and keep showing your ceaseless efforts and honesty. Don’t take your wealth i.e. skills, money, friends and education for granted. You have what they dream to have.
