Ever since yesterday, news about a shooting incident at Sea-View Karachi has been going viral all over Pakistan, with little to no information about the incident, except different pictures of scenes.
However, as the day went by, the incident has sought clarity and here’s everything you need to know about it. Early Saturday morning in Karachi, 4 A-Level students, after breakfast, decided to take a round of the famous Phase-8 track, like most elite Karachiites.
The 4 students were inside a Mercedes, which was to become the deathbed for one of the boys. While returning from Phase-8, just before the Village Restaurant, the Mercedes encountered a GSXR Heavy Bike. Unfortunately, both crashed into each other, and a normal road traffic accident turned into a deadly shooting.
The heavy bike was being ridden by one Khawar Burney, an influential elite Karachiite, owner of Burney Autos. With the bike, accompanied 3-4 cars, as per eye-witnesses, loaded with guards and ammunition. The kids who were in the Mercedes, frightened by the outcome, tried to flee the scene. However, they were followed by a white Toyota Revo and other cars, who started shooting at them with automatic rifles and pistols.
According to one of the kids who were inside the car, Khawar Burney himself shot through the Mercedes’ windows, maiming and killing Zafir, an A-level student. The deceased received 2 bullets to his neck and one to his heart, while the other boy is in critical condition. Another Dr. Raheem was injured in the incident as well, who did not know either party.
Ever since the incident, Khawar Burney has been arrested and interrogated. Only time will tell what becomes of him and this case, but one thing is for sure, even 5 years after Shahzeb Khan’s death, there are many Shahrukh Jatois roaming the street of Karachi.
As one of the friends of the deceased demanded in the video, the culprits should be punished severely, as no civilian should be given the right to take law into his own hands. As for Zafir, nobody can bring him back. We pray for his maghfirat and sabr for his family.
