India’s first all-girls movie ‘Veere di Wedding’ starring superstars like Kareena Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor has been banned from screening in Pakistan due to its vulgar content.

The Chairman, Daniyal Gillani, Central Board of Film Censors (CBFC), told IANS via social media:

“Members of the CBFC unanimously decided to not allow the film for public exhibition in the cinemas as its content flout the Censorship of Film Code 1980.”

The movie was screened by CBFC in Pakistan on Tuesday night and according to the sources, the movie didn’t seem to fit in. Moreover, it didn’t turn out to be a ‘family’ movie to watch.

“Veere Di Wedding” is co-produced by Rhea Kapoor, Ekta Kapoor and Nikhil Dwivedi. It also stars Swara Bhasker and Shikha Talsania.

The movie has caught more attention since it’s the first movie of Kareena after being a mother, Sonam’s first movie to come out since her wedding. For Swara, it’s a complete different zone she’s going to step in as a character in the movie and Shikha is making her first ever debut.

This is a tale of four friends living in Delhi who deal with several turmoil and ups and downs regarding family acceptance and societal perceptions in today’s world.

The movie released all over the world on the 1st of June.
