The stories of violence in the city of lights are not secret. Karachiites, since the beginning, have been very disturbed due to the sudden terrorist events that used to occur in the city which eventually made their way into the educational institutes. Out of the many renowned institutes of Karachi, the one that seems to get affected the most is the University of Karachi. The stories of this institute have been making the headlines since long and now it has gotten rage to such an extent that the parents don’t feel safe to send their children to such an institute. Karachi University’s administration seems to have failed in regaining peace in their institute as the stories of harassment, a whole series of clashes between two groups, killings etc. have been very common.

After all this time the administration is now pondering over their security that too only because of the alleged trend of extremism on their students. It has been decided by the administration of the institute that they will be taking the services off their security departments. The Vice Chancellor of KU, Prof Mohammad Ajmal while speaking to a popular news channel said that they will now be preparing a strategy in alliance with the security institutes along with that he also mentioned that there are many options for faking the mark sheets which need to be disclosed. The Senate Chairman Raza Rabbani wrote a letter to the universities VC stating that the news concerning to share the records of the students to intelligence agencies will create chaos amongst them.

“There is a severe need for basic changes in the curriculum, plus the Senate resolution regarding the restoration of student union should be acted upon”, said Raza Rabbani. Along with that, he also emphasized on taking suitable action on it. A meeting including KU’s syndicate and academic council members took place to express their concerns over the involvement of their student in an attack on Khwaja Izharul Hasan. The officers have given a statement that the task of data decoding and forensic on the record will be carried out. Furthermore, security officers have recovered more than 12 laptops and 20 UBS’s from the house of Abdul Kareem who escaped during the raid in Gulzar-e-Hijri.
