The businessman turned President of the United States, Donald Trump is one of the most famous and controversial figures around the world. Ever since he has become President of the world’s most powerful country, Trump has made some drastic decisions that have put him in the limelight.

While unveiling the United State’s new national security strategy, Donald Trump reminded Pakistan the country was ‘obliged’ to help the USA in all their endeavors.

The statement comes as a result of the ‘massive payments’ the US has made to Pakistan ever since 9/11 as aid. This is what Trump had to say to Pakistan from the Ronald Reagan Building in Washington DC: “We have made clear to Pakistan that while we desire continued partnership, we must see decisive action against terrorist groups operating on their territory. And we make massive payments every year to Pakistan. They have to help.”

What Donald Trump does not realize or presumably forgot to state is that the massive payments Pakistan has taken are due to the war against terrorism that the US forced us to fight. Ever since 9/11, Pakistan has made great sacrifices of lives and assets at the hands of terrorism. For the last 16 years, Pakistan has only been helping the United States, nothing short, nothing less.

This is not the only threat Donald Trump has slurred recently. On the controversial issue of the US recognizing Jerusalem as Israel’s new capital city, the UN would be undertaking a vote of nations soon. Trump has ‘warned’ and ‘threatened’ all the nations who are in direct ties with the US that the US would be ‘watching their vote’.

Trump’s approach of saying this direct without any hesitations might be his forte, but what he doesn’t recognize is that the world will not dance around his word whenever he wishes. As for Pakistan, we’ve already done a little too much in the war against terrorism and if the US thinks that Pakistan will continue dancing to the beat they set, they are very much mistaken.

Pakistan’s economic growth and the new Asian pact in the shape of CPEC and OBOR has made it evident that Pakistan does not need the United States’ heavy hand anymore.

What Donald Trump needs to realize is that Pakistan is a genuine country and it would help the US on its genuine demands. However, if Trump thinks that Pakistan would go to the UN and vote in favor of making Jerusalem the capital of Israel, he is more than just mistaken.
