This Pakistani RJ Makes Partner In World’s Largest Consulting Firm, Deloitte And It’s Amazing!

Monday, August 27th, Deloitte the world’s largest privately held consulting and professional services firm has inducted Sofyan Yusufi, a Pakistani American based out of Washington D.C., as an equity Partner for the Deloitte U.S. firms. Sofyan has the distinction of being the first South-Asian, Pakistani American and Muslim to be included as an equity Partner in Deloitte Risk and Financial Advisory’s legacy Federal Government practice.

Deloitte Risk and Financial Advisory are ranked as the number 1 strategic risk advisory firm in the world.

Sofyan is originally from Karachi, Pakistan, where he once hosted a radio morning show ‘Good morning Karachi with Sofyan J. Yusufi’ on FM-101. Sofyan also received Pakistan Broadcasting Corporations radio broadcast excellence award for his contributions to Pakistan’s radio broadcasting. He later flew around Pakistan in a hot air balloon hosting radio shows.

Upon completing his undergraduate from Pakistan, Sofyan later moved to the United States with nothing but a dream of being successful. Sofyan attended Carnegie Mellon University where he received academic scholarships and graduated with a Masters in Public Management focusing on Finance and Information Systems. Sofyan later served on Carnegie Mellon’s Heinz Alumni Board and was the first Pakistani to be elected to the Board. Sofyan also started the women in technology consulting club at Carnegie Mellon. Currently, Sofyan leads Deloitte Advisory’s campus recruiting at Carnegie Mellon University.

Sofyan started his career in Deloitte’s Wall Street practice 12 years ago, starting off as a consultant and working on private equity and hedge fund transactions. Sofyan was viewed as a high performing leader and he progressed quickly through the ranks.

Today, Sofyan is a leader in Deloitte’s Government and Public Services (GPS) Practice, where he advises the US Federal and State Government leaders and leads large-scale finance transformation and operational risk programs for the US Federal, State, and Local governments.

Sofyan has developed large-scale internal controls, accountability, and transparency programs for International Development Organizations. Sofyan also serves as Deloitte’s Blockchain fellow and leads Deloitte Advisory’s Government and Public Sector Blockchain practice.

Sofyan regularly mentors and helps students from Pakistan and other parts of the world and advises them on becoming successful. Sofyan regularly speaks at academic events on the ‘art of the possible’ and making the most of the opportunities.
