Yes, I have been living in Bahria Town Phase 8, Islamabad for about 1.5 years now. During these years, we’ve had very few people visit us such as workers, maids or people from the maintenance department of Bahria. Till now nothing had happened. We were completely safe and satisfied with the security as everything was going well. Initially, it was my mom, my sister and myself (3 women) who lived in this house all by themselves.

About 2 days ago we got the news that our father will be coming from Malaysia to visit us. On the 17th of August, at 11 pm my dad arrived in Islamabad and we received him from the airport. The next day, we had a maintenance worker visit us who we know very well and for a very long time, he found out that our father had arrived. Other than him, our maid and the construction workers in front of our house knew about my father’s arrival. Nobody else knew anything about him coming.

Today at 11 am, we left the house to go shopping. My dad was locking the house, the main door along with the gate. We left the kitchen window unlocked. Coming back at around 3:15 pm, when my dad unlocked the first door and tried entering the house through the one inside, it was locked. He distinctly remembered not locking it. We all got worried and started looking around from outside to see what had happened.

I looked into the window, I saw the lights of the bedrooms were on which I remember leaving off. My dad walked over to the kitchen window, and the grill had been cut. A clear evidence of somebody sliding inside. We called Bahria Police who arrived in about 5 minutes. They helped us open the house and check if someone was inside, but no one was there. I walked inside the house with my mother and my sister. My mother’s bedroom and my sister’s bedroom were completely wrecked. And we realized that we have been robbed.

The rooms are a complete mess and all of our jewelry and cash is gone. Approximately 10 tola of gold jewelry plus almost 5-6 tola pure silver jewelry and approximately 80,000 rupees of cash, along with 1500 Malaysian ringgits which my dad had brought with him. The strange thing was, that only the bedrooms were wrecked. The rest of the drawers and cabinets are closed. And the rest of the house is perfectly clean and tidy.

It felt as if somebody knew where our valuables were and they just picked up all of those things. We have three laptops and 2 power banks, which were in their places. My sisters branded makeup was at its place. She has two debit cards out of which one is working and one isn’t active. Her wallet is here but the cash is gone and only the card which is active, is gone. It is as if somebody who has been frequently visiting us, knows where everything is and has told someone about the exact places where our valuables are because only those things are gone. And we don’t know a lot of people in this city either.

My question to whoever reading this is when a robbery takes place in broad daylight and at a place where apparently the security patrolling is very efficient, who should be held accountable for this? Who is going to get us our valuables and cash back? Who is going to catch the culprits who did this? How’re we getting accommodated? We moved to Bahria Town Rawalpindi believing that this is a secure place for families to live in but I guess we were wrong. Please do not move to Bahria Town Rawalpindi if you want a safe environment for your family and yourself.
