The obsession of Pakistanis with chai is real. Our days don’t kickstart until we have sipped this local energy drink, right? Be it some family gathering or be it to digest your meals, a cup (or maybe) of chai every day keep misery away. In short, we just cannot live without chai.
Seems like we are not only ones who feel this way as scientists have discovered a way of dealing with this addiction. Oh but isn’t chai actually an addiction?
Presenting, Chai Wine!
Seems like 5 scientists from Jorhat, India’s Assam Tocklai Tea Research Institute are such chai addicts, they developed and launched wine made from the chai. The special thing about this wine is that not only it is made of chai (100000 points for that), but according to the makers, it is a healthy drink which fights cold, controls the sugar level intake, prevents from cardiovascular diseases and prevents dementia as well.
According to the director Dr. Anup Kumar Baruah, “the scientists from the Department of Mycology and Micro-Biology of the pioneer tea research institute developed 3 varieties of tea wine – CTC wine, Orthodox wine, and Green tea wine.”
It has also been stated that the wine is free of residue and is prepared from the pesticide-free and organic green tea.
Well, is it safe to assume that the wine is halaal? Is this the type of wine we can get drunk on (hehehehe)?? The scientists haven’t really commented on this part but let’s just appreciate how cool the idea is!
