Even though social workers and other authorities try their best to suppress the vice that is rape (ziyadti) in the country, hundreds of different cases still erupt from different parts, where innocent children, women and even men, are forcefully taken advantage of.
Recently, another such case has been highlighted. A young schoolgirl was raped by her teacher in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and a day later, she tried to commit suicide by drinking rat poison.
Even though the girl is now out of danger and the suspect has been arrested by diligent authorities, the issue needs to be discussed. As per the police, the 15-year-old girl was subjected to rape and violence by her teacher. This occurred on Tuesday, around 11 pm in the night.
The teacher committed this inhumane crime in Nakyal Village of Azad Jammu and Kashmir when the girls’ parents were not present in the house. The couple had gone to visit a relative in Lahore. The little girl was then subjected to assault and rape.
The girl was a student of the 8th grade in a local school in the village. The teacher was not a regular, but a contractual employee of the institution. The teacher previously would also take the young girl to his home at different times, citing reasons of tuitions and academic help. As per the parents, they had never found it to be strange, somehow. They considered the teacher as a spiritual father of the student.
The suspect, a 25-year-old, had his eyes set on the little girl for quite a while, waiting for his chance to pounce. On Tuesday, the suspect when he found out the girl was alone, took her to his shop on her bike where he subjected her to assault and rape. The teacher then dropped the innocent child back at her house around 2 am in the night.
The only person present at the house was her aunt, who the girl didn’t reveal anything to. Later, when the parents arrived the next day, they inquired about her being out of the house at such late hours; however, the girl still remained mum. The next day, early morning, in a bid to escape the shame and fury, she decided to drink rat poison to end her life.
“She was nervous and scared… and on my exhortation she narrated the ordeal she had gone through at the hands of the teacher,” the girl’s father informed the police of the events. The father then did not back down and decided to take the teacher to task, regardless of the consequences.
