With almost 30% of Pakistan’s total population living below the poverty line, the poor populous of the country faces a host of different issues battling life every single day. The biggest worry for them, however, is food — just as it is in the rest of the world.

Hunger is considered to be the worst feeling in the world, and those who are blessed, never have to feel it. However, there are millions of people in Pakistan that cannot make ends meet and afford two meals a day for their families. For the people of Karachi, an initiative has tried to change that bitter truth.

The ever-so-famous Saylani Welfare has come up with a RotiBank in Karachi that serves free food to hundreds of people daily. The RotiBank is a place where people do not have to pay to eat but can grab their parcelled food and take it home for free.

Saylani Welfare has been helping the poor population of Karachi with free food for a long time but this initiative is different from their previous prospects. Instead of having to sit and eat charity food in public, white-collar people who cannot afford their meals, take away the same for their families.

People on social media have lauded this initiative and have shown their desire to help Saylani Welfare open other branches of the newly famous RotiBank. People can also come up with their donations to the Rotibank so that more and more poor people benefit from this opportunity.

The concept of RotiBank is to show and prove that people do not have to compromise their dignity for basic needs of life such as food. The initiative is well thought of. The labor cadre, which works on daily wages, at times gets into financial crunches which leave them begging for food; but with great causes like Saylani’s RotiBank, there’s always help and hope.
