These days, the fever of elections is very high as everyone is talking about it. Even the social journalists have started their prediction about the upcoming general elections but it is sad to say that none of the leader and journalists have debated on the role of youth in elections. Every politician is making promises during their campaigns that they will provide jobs to the youth but no one is focusing and understanding the importance of youth in elections as for any state, youth is the biggest strength. It is the responsibility of the leaders to engage the youth in state affairs, but in Pakistan, there is no such concept.
Pakistan has the largest youth population country in the world and the second in the south Asian region after Afghanistan, the total population of Pakistani youth is 64% as it is a very big number and we are blessed to have it but unfortunately in our country political parties have used the youth power in order to achieve their goals as well as to plant their agenda among the public.
There is no doubt that the recent scenario of the country will reform into an optimistic shape if they educate the youth about the election process. Also, make them realize their importance in polls and help them to understand the significance of the general elections. But what to say if this leader did not understand the youth importance, how will they teach the adolescence about the prominence of their existences?
Today, Pakistani youth is very active, educated, modernized and passionate. Moreover, if any of them wanted to serve their country, some external and internal forces always holds themback. Hence, how good will it be if some of the election responsibilities will be given to them? It will indeed be a great source of learning for them. However, youth has always played the role of a backbone for any state, so it is necessary to utilize their capabilities for a constructive purpose.
The role of youth in elections is very essential and it is the duty of the authorities to provide the platform where they can show their skills and can actively participate in the elections.
