The ex-Prime Minister of Pakistan, Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, has fallen into more trouble. After being disqualified as the PM, the Supreme Court has also removed his name from Pakistan Muslim League – N’s president bracket.

Unprecedented, the PML-N seems to have been caught off guard, but people are divided on their opinion on whether this suspension as party president would help PML-N in the coming elections or not. Some are of the opinion that it might help get them ‘sympathy’ votes and he might shock the country, just as he did in Lodhran. Others are of the opinion that this is the actual end of Nawaz Sharif and PML-N.

Whatever the case may be, experts are also divided on whether the Supreme Court has overstepped its jurisdiction in suspending Nawaz Sharif as PML-N president or not. Let us find out what exactly happened.

As per the Supreme Court’s Chief Justice and two others judges on the same bench, an individual who has been disqualified under Articles 62/63 (Sadiq & Ameen) of the Constitution, cannot be head of any political party. It all started after PML-N was able to pass the Elections Act 2017. So basically, the move comes as reversal of the Parliament’s passed notion.
