Within the last 3 months, over 5 children have been raped and murdered in different areas of Pakistan. These are the cases that have been reported, while there are many others that do not reach police stations, let alone the media.
After Zainab, Asma Bibi and several others, 9-year-old Saima Jarwar fell victim to the heinous scourge of rape a couple of days ago in Larkana, Sindh. Six people have been arrested with links to the unfortunate murder of the little child.
Naseem Ahmed Jarwar, father of the victim girl, protested and demanded the constitution of a medical board, because the police were trying to save the rapists and killers. He demanded the immediate arrest of killers. The people nominated include a shopkeeper, a watchman and the owner of a house where a sniffer dog had stopped, posing it as the prime crime scene.
Saima Jarwar had been reported as missing from her neighborhood and the family had filed a report as well. A couple of days later, her body was recovered from a deep trench (cave like). The body, when recovered, was full of marks of brutality and torture. Doctors in the child’s postmortem report concluded that Saima had been raped and strangled to death.
SSP Larkana Tanveer Tunio had visited the crime scene and recovered a chappal and a chaddar from there and started investigating the case. The SSP also suspended a Station House Officer (SHO). Sindh Home Minister Sohail Siyal, CM Murad Ali Shah and IG Police AD Khawaja, all have taken notice of the incident and demanded fast scrutiny of the case.
