Saraya Sidhoo area, Kanewal district: two Pakistani men were arrested by the police when the Wildlife Department caught them shooting tortoise. The government of Punjab has banned the selling and hunting of tortoise and therefore, those caught while doing so will be arrested by the authorities.
According to the provincial director of the Wildlife Department, Mohammad Gashgori stated that these two men were hunting down tortoise to smuggle the meat to Hong Kong. The Chinese restaurants in Hong Kong have a high demand of tortoise and these men were seen taking advantage of it.

According to Mohammad Gashgori, the two men caught in the act are involved in a group of people who are hunting and smuggling tortoise meat from the past six months. The police, so far, has been unable to catch all of them, but the hunt continues.
The meat is now in possession of the authority and has been stated that the culprits will appear in front of the court for breaching the law.
