Mureed represents the Pakistan People’s Party and has made his opinions public lately. Ever since the PTI later Shah Mehmood went to Sindh and raised claims of corruption against PPP Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari, Mureed Hussain Qureshi has not taken to it kindly.

In a live public press conference at the Bahauddin Zakariya Shrine during the Urs, Mureed Hussain made claims against the PTI leader, his Chairman Imran Khan and the mismanagement that has been going on at the Shrine. Mureed Hussain publicly stated that if any agency or department wanted proof against the looting that has been going on at the Shrine, they could approach him for the details.

The incident sparked a fire when Mureed Hussain’s son was stopped from entering the shrine and Mureed Hussain slapped one of the devotees of the shrine, which was caught on footage. Mureed Hussain also stated that Shah Mehmood had been using the shrine for his political superiority, and not for ‘roohani’ reasons.
