Social media in Pakistan has been subject to a ban since yesterday. Why? The simple answer for us all is that it is because of the molvis. They have been sitting there for weeks, enjoying, while we have to suffer. We all, including myself, have been blaming them.
We’ve been annoyed by them, have been ‘victims’ of the conditions going around the city. But, do we actually know why they’re there? What are they standing up for? I did not until today when I actually understood what has been going on. I will not go down to the history of Ahmedis, but basically, they believe that the Holy Prophet (PBUH) is not the last Prophet of humanity and believe that Qadyani is.
Thus, Pakistan made a law in the 1970s that Ahmedis will not be considered as Muslims. As Pakistan is an Islamic republic, the president, and prime minister must both be Muslims, and Ahmedis did not fit the right criteria. However, in the court, Ahmedis took the oath that they believe in the last Prophet. This did not clarify that Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) is the last Prophet, and while taking the oath, Ahmedis thought about their prophet Qadyani as the last Prophet of Islam.
This way they could be in the government. Then, General Zia changed the oath and specified that ‘I believe in Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) as the last Prophet of Islam’. Now the Ahmedis could not take this oath as it went against their fundamental beliefs. This law was continued until recently. The Qadyani leader nowadays is a popular figure in the world who has links with Trump, Modi, and Israel.
Ahmedis are quite wealthy with the aid they receive from big countries. They are seen as tortured minorities in the extremist republic of Pakistan. Pakistan is portrayed as a country with violent and extremist people. Trump made speeches about our extremism, the Ahmedi leader made speeches in Israel that Pakistan will vanish unless it removes the law that Ahmedis are not Muslims.
More countries stood up with them without considering the Muslim beliefs. Our government got pressurized by the other countries to remove the law. So, recently, it removed all the laws given by general Zia, indirectly giving in to the Ahmedis. All the politic parties, like Jamat-e-Islami, PTI, PML etc, signed the law and agreed to it. Now, Ahmedis could also rule Pakistan and take an active role in the government.
Basically, a non-Muslim could run the Islamic Republic of Pakistan? Nobody did anything about this so, the Molvis got up. They raised a voice. They said that there is no doubt that Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) is the last Prophet and so an Ahmedi cannot be considered a Muslim. Many people got out of there homes in this cold weather, they slept in the streets, they got soaked in the rain from which they had no shelter, they sacrificed their jobs, left their families. Why? For Islam, for our basic religious beliefs, for our dear Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
But, we called them names, called them extremists, called them annoying. We’ve only had to deal with blocked roads, but they have had to live in these dirty streets. Moving on, yes, the government changed the law again and made excuses. But, these protestors rightfully say that whoever wants and whenever he wants changes the laws. This is not a small issue. This is the fourth principle of our faith.
You cannot be a Muslim unless you do not believe that the Holy Prophet (PBUH) is the seal of prophets and that there will be NO prophet after him. So, therefore, such important laws should not be changed so easily. Now the protestors only asked for one thing. The man who removed the law should be asked to resign. They do not ask for him to be killed or to be handed out to them.
They just wanted to remove this one person so that nobody else dares to tamper with such laws. Is that such a difficult thing to do for peace? Whatsoever, the government had other things in mind. Yesterday, they started beating the armless protestors. They hit them and use tear gas. The poor people fled and had nothing to defend themselves with, so had to throw stones in return. Many of their lives were snatched, they were killed.
The government would’ve shot them all if they weren’t afraid of being called “the actual troublemakers” and if they did not fear more protests. Thus, they closed all social media sites to prevent this news from spreading. None of us found out about the dead protestors. They were poor people out fighting in the name of Islam. They were fighting for truth when the country was quiet. And now we call them bad, problem creators, extremists, horrible things. I too was amongst the people calling them silly, until I found out the truth.
It’s time you did too, think about it. Would you like leaving your house, your children, your job to go and be part of a few protestors against the country? And moreover, who is our real enemy? Why is the government fighting the molvis? We are not each others’ enemies. The enemy is that person who caused this unrest, the one who quietly ignited a flame. The enemy is not from Pakistan.
