It first started when Imran Khan led his army of Insaafians towards D-Chowk, Islamabad to protest against four constitutions that were alleged to be ‘wrongfully won’ in the general elections by the PML-N using fake and bogus votes. Then something happened that created tidal waves in the world overall. Wiki Leaks gave out hints of massive amounts of corruption done by the world leaders in which Pakistan’s Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif was also named. Raising eyebrows within the PTI leadership, Imran Khan started drawing blue prints of his next fight with the central government. Panama Leaks came out next, and its pressure was felt worldwide.

The allegations present in the WikiLeaks were proven with evidence in the history’s biggest information leak that resulted in the resignation of major world leaders, including Iceland’s and Ukraine’s Prime Ministers, and Spain’s industrial minister. They, along with a few more leaders and ministers resigned all around the world, some even did it on moral grounds.

Definitely, there was something about the Panama Leaks that Pakistan was ignoring. Imran Khan took towards the media and highlighted every bit of information regarding offshore companies that Nawaz Sharif and his family allegedly owned, as mentioned in the Panama Leaks.

It was during the end 2016 when Imran Khan amassed thousands of people to march towards Islamabad to call for Nawaz Sharif’s resignation. He devised a brilliant scheme using people’s power against a democratic government to spread massive awareness all over Pakistan. Revealing his own assets one by one, he dared the Sharif family to reveal their own in an attempt to catch their wrongdoings. Perhaps it was not enough as he called a crowd of millions to step inside Islamabad and remain there till Nawaz resigns. Those were the days that the fear of Martial Law and military takeover by General Raheel Sharif seemed imminent. However, the army distanced itself from politics and General Raheel retired, only to be replaced by General Qamar Bajwa, who remained fixed on Operation Zarb e Azab and its subsidiary operations as well.

So drastic were the conditions in Islamabad that the central government decided to head to Supreme Court over what is now called the Panama Case. After days of hearing and several court sessions, the 5-member larger bench came to a vague conclusion. 2 judges outright decided that Nawaz Sharif is not truthful and honest, and his properties and wealth do not match with his earnings. Meanwhile, other three judges decided towards further inquiry using the infamous Joint Investigation Team.

The JIT panel consisted of SBP, MI, ISI, FIA, NAB, and SECP who worked for 60 days inquiring the Sharif family and their workers and party members to account for their wealth and earnings. A hefty document of more than 200 pages was formed and presented to the public that gave a little hope to the Sharifs. It also included the infamous Calibri font error. Almost a week ago, the remaining three judges reviewed the report and secured their verdict, only to be revealed at a later date. Now, after almost 1.5 years of protest by Imran Khan and the PTI members, Pakistan awaits history to be made. No matter what happens, history is surely going to be made. Will Nawaz Sharif be able to complete his term for the first time after becoming Prime Minister for the third time, or will he be forced to resign? People are growing restless and so are we. So, be prepared at 28 July, 11:30 a.m and hope that whatever happens, Pakistan wins.
