You may have heard about the 16-year-old Dota2 champion Sumail Hassan who inspired many youngsters of Pakistan to get into the field of Electronic Sports but of course, the stereophonic mindset of our society still failed to accept Electronic Sport as a sort of career. KPK Government is the first to recognize E-Gaming as a sport and decided to give us youngsters a chance to prove everyone wrong. On 24th February 2018, Pakistan’s first KP Electronic Sports tournament sponsored by KPK government was held at Peshawar Sports Complex and was a complete success.

Recently KPK government launched “Jawan Markaz” in Peshawar sports complex. The main agenda of the complex is to provide a concrete platform for streamlining ideas of youngsters all over Khyber Pakhtun Khwah and then sponsor them to make it a dream come true. It’s kind of like a “make a wish” type of organization.

This tournament was made possible when national sportsman Saqib Shaukat, Salman Nawaz, Ahsan Ayas, and Hyder Khan presented this idea to the director of youth affairs Asfandyar Wali who decided to sponsor the whole event under the supervision of the KPK government itself! The tournament mainly consisted of the games CS Go, Fifa, TEKKEN, and on-screen snooker competition along with prize money. Players from all over Peshawar and KPK geared up and practiced until the tournament began.

The event is said to last for 3 whole days and it started off when Imran Khan (Chairman PTI) along with Asfandyar Wali (Director of Youth Affairs) graced the event with their presence at the opening ceremony. During his recent visits to the “Jawan Markaz” launch events, he has invested greatly in the benefits of youngsters and sportsmen. As the leader of Pakistan’s youth Imran Khan showed great interest in the event and warmly congratulated the hosts of the tournament.

With such tournaments being sponsored by the government, the main agenda of the whole event was very visible. Not only did this tournament create awareness of the E-Sports field but also aims to send our winners to international game tournaments. There is an unimaginable amount of gaming talent in Pakistan and we strive to make this an official sport in Pakistan’s sports board as a long-term benefit to help channelize the youth towards a positive direction.
