Benazir Bhutto, the most celebrated female politician of the sub-continent, tragically left this world almost 10 years ago. A woman of substance and a born leader, no woman in politics and leadership can come close to the charm and persona BB had.
Even after she left the world, people of Sindh continue to benefit in her name. However, there’s another opportunity in Benazir Bhutto’s name, from which any Pakistan who aims and dreams big can benefit from.
Harvard University, the most prestigious institute in the world, is offering a fellowship programme in the name of the late Prime Minister of Pakistan, Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto. Almost every Pakistani, in the country or abroad, dreams of studying at Harvard University, regardless of their age. An opportunity like this does not come very often.
The University has started accepting applications for the Benazir Bhutto Fellowship Programme. The program was announced last year, established by ClassACT (Class Achieving Change Together, www.classacthr73.org). The programme is the brain-child of Benazir Bhutto’s class fellows from the class of 1973.
The aim of the programme is to support and educate leaders from South Asia and the Middle East. Another Bhutto who is part of the programme and a member of the advisory board of the fellowship is Sanam Bhutto.
One of the Co-Chair of ClassACT and Director of the BB Leadership Programme, Marion Dry said: “In college, we were privileged to have Benazir Bhutto, who was to become the first woman to lead a predominantly Muslim country, as a classmate!”
Pakistan’s representative to the UN Women programme, Jamshed Kazi, also a Harvard Kennedy School fellow, also talked about Benazir Bhutto’s legacy: “Benazir Bhutto has been an iconic and inspirational figure for many women, as well as plenty of men like myself!”
The Benazir Bhutto Leadership Programme brings forth a huge opportunity for Pakistanis to become a part of the most respected and reputable university in the world. So, if you want to be a part of the Harvard University, all you have to do is apply for the Benazir Bhutto fellowship programme.
