Hands down, the best invention of the 21st century, Whatsapp, has no parallels in comparison. The most used social media application in the world, Whatsapp has created a market for itself that doesn’t let its customers go astray, but come back every single day.

Every now and then, Whatsapp introduces a feature that grips its customers into using it instead of finding an alternative. For example, Whatsapp overtook the Story Mode feature from Snapchat and even recently introduced the ‘Going Live’ feature, a copy of its parent product, Facebook.

However, Whatsapp is now changing the game altogether by testing out and introducing Group Voice Calls and Group Video Calls, planning to give Microsoft’s Skype a run for its money. If the features roll out successfully, we doubt anyone would opt for Skype to video call their friends.

Pakistanis, who have wanted to group video call, have only looked at Oovoo as their option because Microsoft Skype’s feature for group video calling is not free, but Premium. However, with Whatsapp introducing free group calls, there’s no doubt that Skype would lose its value altogether.

It seems that Whatsapp is hellbent on becoming the only portal for social communication, with every feature that has worked in the world, introduced in the app, which is not a bad approach at all.

Well, as users, we can’t be anything but happy about it. A one-stop shop to communicate with our friends is all we need. Whatsapp has not given a final date for when the features would successfully rollout, however, they are expected to be out soon.
