At this very moment, the former Prime Minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif is on route to Islamabad from Lahore. Sharif leads a rally of supporters of PML-N to protest and rebel against the recent decision taken by the Supreme Court to oust Nawaz Sharif from his role as Prime Minister of Pakistan. The charges of corruption were inspired by the Panama Leaks which disclosed secret transactions of many of the worlds’ leaders to avoid taxes and hide assets.

Today on the 9th of August, Nawaz Sharif plans to demonstrate his rebellion and showcase the support of PML-N by rallying from Lahore to Islamabad on GT road. The mass rallying efforts showcase a direct insubordination of the Supreme Court ruling and undermine the authority of the court as the superior judiciary in Pakistan. Sharif also plans to deem the ruling against him as a planned conspiracy to get him out of office. But he seems to disregard the fact that he has strong corruption charges against him pending a final verdict.

The Nawaz rally has strong opposition as well, with two appeals to the Supreme Court to cease the rally, one came from PTI lawyer Usman Saeed Basra who feels this rally directly challenges the judiciary of Pakistan and showcases how one person can manipulate the law. But the appeals were dismissed Justice Aamer Farooq aster being termed as ‘unmaintainable’.

As this is happening right now, lets’ see what the reaction of the people are on this rally to liberate PML-N and Nawaz Sharif.

The author feels this rally is a bold step from Nawaz Sharif, on one hand, it directly challenges and undermines the decision of the judiciary and on the other hand, it helps Nawaz Sharif to gain momentum and support in his open rebellion against the judiciary.
