Craaack! This alarmed me and I was now fully awake. Since it was an early morning and I had just left my bed and beloved pillow, so my grumpy face for an hour was mandatory. My speech based on “My Society” was rolling inside my mind; I was imagining myself reciting it in front of a “Sensible” audience.

I was literally imagining a sensible audience. But surprisingly, I knew none of the audience. They all were strangers to me. This doesn’t mean I am a self-obsessed person, but no one I know from my surroundings fit in a definition of a sensible person. As Google says: “Sensible means practical and functional rather than decorative”.

Beeeeeeeeeeep! And I  quickly turned my look from Shabby to Spiffy, “Cancel all the alarms”, “Disabling all the alarms”, this is the shortest conversation of mine that happens with Siri, every day. After saying “Goodbye” to everyone, as I stepped out of my house, I saw my driver was lost again. This infuriated me, so I approached my sister for help. On the way to my university, I wasn’t nervous but excited for my speech. I wasn’t over-confident, but soon my thoughts were vanishing from my mind.

As soon as I reached my university, my confidence changed into nervousness. Now a fraction of time was left for my thoughts to get out of my mind. I could see a huge mass, and I could hear a hubbub of laughter. Once I stepped on the podium, I regained my confidence, and I proceeded with a conventional opening, but not with a conventional style of delivering the speech. Instead, I kept my tone on a moderate scale and used my gestures where needed.

“My Society! Which is full of family oriented people, which is full of simplicity, which is full of people whose blood is filled with patriotism. My Society which is free from hatred, and full of supportive people, the unity of my society is quintessential, where we see no discrimination and racism, but love and prevailing kindness.

All the attributes are true to some extent, but the hypocrisy of my society has darkened all of the attributes since hypocrisy is an adulterant which has stopped me to look at my society with this perceptive. I call this a society full of hypocrites. I know, I myself, am included in this hypocrite society, and this has ruined me a lot in many ways because I myself, was inside this ocean of hypocrisy and never ever tried to voice out against it.

Now it’s time to get out of this ocean full of dirt. Now it’s time to talk about factors which are needed to be taken under the limelight. People ask the reason behind this negative statement, people ask about the hypocrisy of my society. So let me state some points of hypocrisy right now. The reasons behind this label are many. Let’s talk about unity when we are busy fighting people over biryani; when we are busy categorizing people of different cities into Pendu, Burger, Maila; when our behavioral isn’t collective, but sectional. How do you expect a prevailing unity in a country?

Secondly, taking patriotism under the limelight, when our patriotism wakes up on 14th August and keep sleeping rest of the year, when we are busy mocking and bashing our country, on the other hand throwing garbage and breaking the rules simultaneously, then how do we expect a positive change in our country?

Thirdly, when we talk about discrimination, racism and I include body shaming at the top of my list, there are uncountable examples rolling around us, since these three elements don’t need an example, they speak themselves out.

No! This isn’t important to talk about as per my society. We are not allowed to question as per my society. When we forget about self-accountability, when we forget analyzing, when we forget about evaluation of ourselves, when we forget to judge people on the basis of their talents, when we forget about the importance of creating new things, when we don’t exactly know the meaning of independence, when we are busy pulling each other’s legs, when we consider someone doing an odd job, then what do we expect from this society? Aren’t these all the basic pillars of any country? We have disturbed our pillars.

Let’s now stop making people count their flaws, let’s put aside this physicality, and look inside that frame to find something unusual, to find something special. Let’s hold each other’s hands and move towards a collective behavior, then only we’ll be able to achieve something in our lives, and instead of narrating stories of success and unity from the past, let’s make this present society, exemplary.

Thank you!’’

As I saw people were about to strike their palms, I stopped them, “I didn’t deliver my thoughts for this applause, but my thoughts will deserve applause when they’ll be able to make a change in this society. Likewise, Allah has given me the power to speak my heart out; I expect someone from this audience who has got power to make these words come true, so let’s make a change together.”
