What happens if a person who is already charged with contempt of court, commits another contempt of court? Is Mir Shakil ur Rehman, the head of Jang and Geo Group, or as Imran Khan likes to call him, the godfather of media, in yet another trouble for his remarks during a press briefing outside supreme court?
According to Justice Ijaz Afzal, wrong reporting was done by the Jang and Geo group which might be to defame the Supreme Court and Joint Investigation Team. Due to this reason, the court ordered Mir Shakil to submit his replies to clarify his stance to clear his name from the charges of contempt of court. However, it is being speculated that he might have done himself more harm than good after coming out of a court session. Watch the video below to find out:
Justice Azmat Saeed Sheikh’s remarks were told to Mir Shakil during a press briefing outside the court. He was told that the judge remarks that Mir Shakil influences the stock market of Pakistan. This was not taken lightly by the “godfather of media” who burst out saying that this was a very disgusting thing to say by a judge and whoever was the one to say this, will be taken by him to court. In the same video, you can also see Mir Shakil’s legal counsel pulling his arm, possibly trying to alarm him about his act being recorded live. Such remarks against judges and the Supreme Court are not taken lightly in the legal world and if they get notified, have consequences.
In the latest update, it has also been confirmed that a request has been filed by Deputy Attorney General Asad Rajput that Mir Shakil has committed contempt of court yet again. The request filed also says that strong remarks were given out by Mir Shakil himself during a press briefing and that he has threatened to sue the judge who passed such a derogatory statement against him.
