Over the last few years, honor killings in Pakistan have been highlighted, showcasing that the social vice has turmoiled far beyond repair. People killing their wives, daughters, and sisters over the issue of honor has earned a lot of attention in Pakistan and abroad, especially after Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy’s Oscar award for A Girl In The River.

However, it is not just honor that has been taking lives of women in Pakistan. As per news being reported, a man murdered his wife in cold blood, that too on an issue that the mind fails to comprehend due to its pettiness.

According to reports, a man named Feroz Khan, a resident of Chak No 85/NB, murdered his wife in cold blood over an extremely small issue. Apparently, the wife, Roshan Bibi, had served him cold food after he returned from work, to which Feroz lost his senses and the couple had an extremely fiery exchange of words.

After the heated exchange, instead of making up, Feroz took the law into his own hands, as he murdered Roshan Bibi. The husband took his wife’s life for an issue as petty as cold food.

Roshan Bibi’s dead body was handed over to her family after legal proceedings, which included the postmortem. A case has been registered against Feroz Khan, who is on the run ever since taking his wife’s life.

Some time back, a newly married bride was strangled to death by her husband on their wedding night in Jacobabad. The reason depicted was that the wife was already in an affair with somebody, and was not a virgin — it is said that hindered traditions such as keeping a cloth on the bedsheet on the wedding night still prevail in Balochistan and Sindh.

A couple was also recently murdered on the orders of a ‘Jirga’ in Karachi. In all the cases reported, the murderers are on the loose and still haven’t been apprehended by the police.
