There’s been a lot of talk in Pakistan on the issue of co-education, with the majority stating that co-ed is important for societal growth — especially for female students.
Something extremely unusual and significantly wrong happened at the Government Postgraduate Islamia College for Girls in Gujranwala. The college is an all-girls college with no male students inside the premises of the institute.
A man named Zawwar Haider was arrested by police after he entered the girl’s college dressed as a woman in burqa. The purpose of Zawwar’s entrance could not be served but the police stated that he had been harassing female students all the while he was inside.
As per Express News, the man went inside a girl’s classroom and started bothering female students, harassing them for over an hour. This is when the principal took notice of the situation and called the police. The classroom buzzed with female screams after they realized that it was a man inside the burqa.
Zawwar Haider has been identified as a student of the Zoology department in the same college but for men. Gujranwala police rushed to the location and arrested Zawwar for breaking the college’s laws. This is not the first time male students have attempted something so outlandish. Previously, there have been reports of male students trying to enter girl’s hostels and colleges all over Pakistan dressed as women in burqas.
Not just girl’s colleges and hostels, people have tried to use the burqa-tactic to their benefit in different places. A man had previously been arrested for wearing a burqa and standing in the female queue at a NADRA office for fast treatment.
Zawwar has disgraced his name by committing an act so childish. The incident and the police action against him would surely hurt is future in more ways than he can imagine.
