Every now and then, Pakistan police come up with gems that are hard for social media to ignore. While not everyone has the courage to stand against the rule-makers bending rules, some do not worry of countering them at every stage.
Last night, a video went viral on famous social media platform Facebook, after a young Karachiite braved up to rogue police officers who were breaking rules while they traveled. The video, which came late night, showed the young guy questioning and filming the police for coming wrong way.
The young man told the police that they were breaking rules, coming wrong way, and should accept their fault whilst also reversing their vehicle as they had jammed traffic up. At this, the police officers involved got pissed off when they saw him filming the scene.
After an exchange of dialogues, the police officer stepped out of his vehicle and started threatening Jazib Khan, the young man filming. This is when the first video comes to a stop. After this, footage continued with Jazib holding his phone, recording, telling how the officers had beaten him up.
While he kept filming, officers from behind started abusing him and beating him again. There’s a third video following where voices can be heard of officers abusing Jazib and further beating him
Ever since the video went viral on Facebook, it has been learned that IG Sindh, Mr. A.D Khwaja, has taken notice of the incident and demanded prompt action and a report on the incident.
We must praise Jazib’s effort for standing up to the police, just as they do not miss out an opportunity to harass the general public. The power of social media has highlighted the incident and it is being believed that in this case, justice will be served.
