One of Bollywood’s most renowned figures, someone who has given his whole life to success of India’s movie and media industry, Javed Akhtar is respected all around the world. His wife, Shabana Kazmi, is as respected as him and the couple have spent their life gaining fame and money in the process.

Lately, however, Javed Akhtar seems to have put himself in a crunch. Unneeded, Javed Akhtar posted comments on social media regarding the Azaan, whether is should be given on loudspeakers or not.

Javed Akhtar, for absolutely no reason, tweeted: “This is to put on record that I totally agree with all those including Sonu Nigam who want that Loud speakers should not be used by the mosques and for that matter by any place of worship in residential areas.”

The outrage at this tweet was always going to be bigger than that of Sonu Nigam’s because Sonu is not a Muslim and he lives in India, which is not a Muslim country. However, for a Muslim to say exactly the same, and that too somebody of Javed Akhtar’s caliber, it is bound to bring a lot of broken sentiments out in the open.

People did not react well to Javed Akhtar’s demand of banning loudspeakers in mosque, as to subdue the call for prayer 5 times a day in India. This is how people on social media reacted to Javed Akhtar’s harsh tweet on the Azaan.
