We have been looking at thousands of cases inside Pakistan where a father, husband, brother, or even in-laws brutally murder their women in a failed attempt to save “honour”. The mindset dates back to as early as before the birth of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) 1400 year ago. As the world progresses towards the age of nanotechnology, killing for honour, however, did not cease to exist. What you are going to read now is a story of another honour killing, but it happened in Israel.

An Israeli girl fell in love with a Muslim guy, however, before their love story could have taken any legal shape, it was ended drastically. It was finished by the girl’s Christian father who could not live with the fact that his daughter would be marrying a Muslim man. Sami Karra murdered his 17-year-old girl, Henriette, due to a growing dispute between him and his daughter over the topic of the girl’s relationship with a Muslim. According to Haaretz, Israeli news media, the Muslim man was serving time in prison at that point and the girl was planning to convert to Islam after getting married. Aliham, the deceased daughter’s mother, explained that her husband continuously felt humiliated by their daughter’s decisions towards life ahead and saw it as a threat towards “family honour”.

The Henriette was forced to leave home due to growing disparities between her and her family. She would then seek refuge at her boyfriend’s mother’s place, or at any other place, she could find. The boyfriend’s mother used to receive threatening calls and messages which forced her to let Henriette find another place to stay. Two weeks after the daughter left the home, she was killed by her father after a relative revealed her plans of converting to Islam to him. She was stabbed in the neck and was found dead in her parent’s house, inside the kitchen.

Upon investigation, it was revealed that the family is related to a judge of Israel’s Supreme Court, Justice George Karra and that the murderer has a history of crimes as well. Perhaps this unforgiving ruthlessness is not restricted to a single region and is more of a case of mentality and mindset.
