Do you think of Muslims as humans or do you think of them as animals? Or are you of the belief that humans should be treated less than animals?

If someone would chop off the legs of an animal in front of you, cut them in parts & pieces or burn them alive what would you do? If animals are beheaded along the continuous torture for days will you take a stand for it? Or will you remain silent?

This is the condition of the Muslims in Burma. Burma’s Rohingya Muslims are being treated worse than animals. You must have seen videos or pictures of them on social media. They are being tortured, set on fire; even the children are set ablaze, their women are being raped and murdered brutally. Their homes, mosques and whole villages have been reduced to ashes in a campaign led by the security forces and Buddhist vigilantes.

More than 50,000 people have fled the violence and thousands of people are at the Bangladesh border. But the Bangladeshi government isn’t allowing them to enter their land. The state chancellor of Myanmar Aung San Suu Kyi, a noble peace prize winner is no more a peace maker. She has been silent on the extreme violence in her country.

Who are Rohingya Muslims? Rohingya Muslims mainly live in Rakhine State in western Myanmar (Burma), where Burmese authorities set up severe restrictions on basic human rights. It is “the most persecuted minority in the world” according to the International Community. Burma (Myanmar) is a South Asian nation. It shares borders with Bangladesh, China, India & Thailand.

During the British rule huge amount of laborers of India and Bangladesh migrated towards Myanmar (Burma). At that time it was a province of India so it was known as internal migration. But after the Independence, the native population of Myanmar viewed this migration negatively. They did not like it at all and considered this migration as illegal.

That is why they refused to give citizenship to the majority of the Rohingya. Later, under the 1982 act of discrimination law, Burmese Muslims have no human rights. They have been declared stateless as per this law, they have no identity and were not given the rights to study, travel, marry and to practice religion.

Why are all the Islamic states and media silent on this inhumane behavior of Buddhists? The entire world didn’t care. In fact, they were hiding the news from TV channels but online media was more active on that. The brutality kept on going. The President of Turkey broke the ice and talked about humanity, a big salute to that man. Turkish president; Recep Tayyip Erdogan, held phone calls with many Muslims head of states to discuss the Myanmar crises and to stop this genocide.

Erdogan said in Istanbul, where he was attending a Turkish soldier’s funeral, “There is genocide occurring in Rakhine in Myanmar. Their villages have been burned and humanity remained silent to the massacre in Myanmar.” He said, “Those who close their eyes to this genocide perpetrated under the cover of democracy are its collaborators.” He further said, “Turkey would raise this issue at the United Nation.” Turkey has also offered to assist Bangladesh financially if it will let refugees enter their land. But Bangladesh, which has given a home to many Rohingya Muslims, can not allow more to come in. Turkey has also contributed millions of dollars for the relief of the Rohingya Muslims.

Hundreds of Indonesian protesters have rallied for days demanding that the Indonesian government cut diplomatic ties with Myanmar. Thousands of people also gathered in Russia for the mistreatment of Rohingya Muslims at the hands of its government.

However, there is no response from the International community to stop the genocide of the Burmese Muslims. We believe that the International Community should do even more to try and counter the violence against these Burmese Muslims. All the Muslim heads of states should gather at one place to sort out this.

Everyone has to do something on his own to stop this violence. Not only Muslims but non-Muslims should also do something to stop this inhumane behavior. The International Community should act now before it’s too late. It is not about being Muslim but about being human to feel the pain of those facing the worst.
