Pakistanis love Independence Day! As August arrives, the patriotic spirit awakens and gradually rises to full bloom till the 13th of August. As an overseas Pakistani, we are often judged as being “less patriotic” compared with the Pakistanis residing within the country. Though there is no specific measure to really define patriotism, this video throws some light on the opinions reflected by some of the Pakistanis all over the world.

We have people from Australia, Italy, and Dubai expressing how they really feel about Pakistan from different vantage points. The video is simple in its message and not too flashy. The essence was just to understand that Pakistanis love their country whether they have left it, or are still residing in it. 71 years is a huge milestone for Pakistan, and at this point, our people should be clear and confident about how they see Pakistan.

One of the messages has expressed concern over the status quo, whereas, one has a subtle opinion on how they wish to see the educational system. One really wants the youth to reminisce the sacrifices of our elders and really understand the value of this freedom, considering that even today, there are countries like Palestine, Syria etc. who are still struggling to attain freedom.

One of them has hopes for Pakistan’s future despite the failing government upheavals, whereas, one simply dedicates his entire success to his identity. The messages are not many but each message is diverse and focuses on a certain point, a certain hope, a certain desire on how they wish to see Pakistan.

On the contributing end of the spectrum, we need to work collectively in order to realize the dream that we mutually share for Pakistan. It will not take another 70 years if we cultivate positive thoughts and direction in our youth. Thoughts can move mountains if channelized in the right direction. To us “Zinda Qaum”! Pakistan Zindabad!
