When Imran Khan became the PM of Pakistan, he was the first one to win people’s heart by his speech! His first address to people after he became the PM gave people some hope. The country which was on the verge of breaking economically and the international reputation was going down with every passing day. Pakistan’s condition was like that of an orphan who just lost its parents and is now sitting on the road with nothing to do.

Imran Khan was not just a hope for people who followed him, but also the ones who did not vote for him! He became the ray of sunshine for the ones who thought that it’ll be dark forever now.

His economic policies, his work for education when he built Namal, his passion for Shaukat Khanum Memorial Hospital.

Not just that but when he started working for the people, he did not just give statements to the media to be published in the newspaper the next day. But whenever he felt that the nation is in despair he would come on TV to directly address the people and made them understand his stance!

But very recently, on Tuesday Imran Khan ordered the immediate removal of all kinds of discriminatory sign-board in Clubs (Islamabad club, gymkhana etc)!

In any club around Pakistan, you must have these sign boards which very strictly say that there’s no maid and aya allowed from this point on!

Not just the clubs, there many restaurants like Cafe Alyanto and many others who do not allow the house help to be present with the family who is dinning in!

This discrimination is not bound till the restaurants, but also the even in the mosques of elite places; a signboard which reads that only members can offer namaz and not the staff! ABSURD!

Imran lifted all such bans and now there will be no such discrimination against maids and ayas. How unethical is that when people who help you in your housework, and these same people make your life a little easier with their help but when it comes to public outings the same house help is treated is like animals.

Just, recently the sad case of Uzma happened where the 16-year-old was beaten till her last breath. This is enough proof that how a vast majority of people here in the sub0-continent treat their house help. The poor girl was not just beaten but also was given electric shocks. And upon seeing that she’s no more the people where she worked, tied her lifeless body in a plastic bag and threw her in the garbage.

It is high time that people should start treating their house help like sane humans and not animals. They are family to someone, they are a source of income to someone and a dear one to their families.

Let’s stand still to lift this ban and respect the people who deserve it the most!
