Pakistan’s medical industry, be it the institutes that produce doctors or the hospitals that hire them, is renowned worldwide for producing the best pair of hands in the business. In the country, hospitals range from poor to good, and worthwhile to the extremely best.
It can be said that Pakistan’s best hospital indeed is Aghakhan, and the hospital has been going through a very rough time ever since it became part of a controversy. A couple of days back, Oscar winner Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy took to Twitter and tweeted against a doctor who allegedly harassed her little sister by sending her a friend request on Facebook.
After the tweets, Aghakhan Hospital fired the doctor who had 4 kids and was working his dream job. Ever since the incident, the public reaction has been harsh and critical. Not just have people voiced their opinions, but have also shown their wrath towards the hospital by giving it poor ratings on social media.
Apparently, Aghakhan Hospital was rated at somewhere around 4/5 stars on their Facebook page. However, in protest, people gathered together in different groups to give the hospital poor ratings on social media for their firing of the doctor.
The screenshots had been taken 11 hours apart, and from a rating of 4 stars, the Hospital came down all the way to 2.5 stars, before their social media team disabled the rating option on their Facebook page. Not just the ratings, but people have also been sending inappropriate messages to the hospital’s Facebook page, some even going to the extent of calling saying that Sharmeen Obaid has ‘cancer’.
The Pakistani public has not taken kindly to the hospital’s actions against the doctor for alleged harassment of Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy’s sister. However, in reality, the hospital is too big of a name for such incidents to hurt its image and customers.
