Marriage, the most sacred bond a human chooses for themselves, is thought of as a sweet. In Desi rhetoric, there’s a very famous saying that says, “Shaadi woh laddu hai jisne khaya woh bhi pashtaya aur jis ne na khaya woh bhi pashtaya!”

Unfortunately, a young girl from Bahawalpur, Punjab, tried the sweet marriage is and had to throw up instantly. Huma Asghar, the young girl, was allegedly tricked by her husband and his family, leaving her without her belongings and a husband.

According to Huma, who made a video and several posts on social media, she had fallen in love with her music teacher and after a lot of trouble, both decided to marry each other. At first, the girl’s parents were not accepting Sikandar Ali, her music teacher. However, later on, Huma’s family agreed to the marriage, but this time it was Sikandar’s house that did not permit him to bring her home.

After a year and a half of their relationship and still no marriage, Huma and Sikandar decided to marry in a Masjid. Sikandar created the atmosphere, brought the Qazi along with a witness and married Huma. After their nikkah, Sikandar would trick Huma into delaying the official documents and still want to stay in a relationship with her.

He apologized to Huma and took her to a court for their legal marriage, which according to the girl and her family, did take place. After that, Sikandar took her to a rented apartment, where Huma had kept all her belongings, thinking it was her new house. Again, tragedy struck, when Sikandar took Huma’s laptop, Rs, 50,000 cash and other belongings, running away from the marriage once again.

Now, Sikandar says that no marriage ever took place, leaving Huma alone in her pursuit of justice. Thus, Huma took to Facebook, posting a video of what exactly happened, along with proof that she is still Sikandar’s wife. The girl also posted messages from their conversations.

Instances like these are not uncommon, regardless of any country, religion or race. Fraudulent marriages take place all over the globe and many young girls are left fighting legal battles with men who have betrayed them. As for Huma, she currently demands recovery of all her stolen belongings along with her Haq Mehr of Rs. 5 lakh.
