The former State Bank Governor Tariq Bajwa was asked to resign when he was in talks with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in Islamabad. Dr. Reza Baqir who was formerly working as the IMF economist was appointed as the new State Bank Of Pakistan  Governor for 3 years.

1. Dr. Reza Baqir holds an A.B. ( Magna cum Laude) in Economics from Harvard University and a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of California, Berkeley.

2. He has ties with the World Bank, The Massachusetts Institute of Technology and The Union Bank of Switzerland.

3. According to the IMF website list, Dr. Reza Baqir has served as the Funds Senior Representative for the Arab Republic of Egypt.

4. Sources confirm that the new SBP governor was even appointed as the Head of Mission in Romania in 2016.

5. Served the IMF as the Head of Debt Policy Division for more than 18 years and has worked with the World Bank for 2 years.

6. His research has been published in the top journals of the economics profession.

7. The Journal of Political Economy and the Quarterly Journal of Economics also carries his publications.

In this crucial time when Pakistan is under crisis, the nation is expecting changes in a positive manner. The economic growth of Pakistan needs to be pulled out of the inflation factor.
