Last Sunday, I was sitting at a famous cafe in Islamabad. I went there to relief my mind as I was really busy that week. Titanic music playing in the background was perfectly befitting the conditions. After a few moments of serenity, a family came and sat on my neighboring table. Right after sitting, they started talking. They laughed and talked loudly, and it was really tormenting for me. I tried not to listen to them, but I failed.

Then I called the waiter and requested him to arrange another table for me, away from them. He refused as there was no table available on both floors of the hotel. Then, I asked the waiter to increase the volume of background music. Now, the music and the noise were creating another amalgamated tune, and for me, that wasn’t amusing at all. In short, I tried everything but my struggle went in vain. Finally, I accepted my defeat and tried to get used to the things happening around me in the restaurant.

There was a cute child sitting on my neighboring table who was speaking constantly. He was wearing one of my favorite brands. It usually attracts me as I’m a brand conscious person. His father was listening to him and all of the questions of that curious little mind were also being answered. There was an LCD on the wall, and I was constantly watching the news anchor as the television was mute.

Suddenly, there appeared a picture on television showing a brutally wounded Syrian child. “Oh my God!” a little boy said. Furthermore, he asked a series of questions. “Baba! Who is this? Who did this to him? Can we help him?” After hearing all this, from nowhere, a picture came in my mind, and I remembered the text of the post (on social media) about the last words of a three years old Syrian child before dying, “I’m going to tell God everything.”

Aren’t these little children innocent? What if God answers all these complains? Sometimes, our little generation makes us speechless. It is right; we give them every materialistic thing which they ask for. But, are we giving them a future they are hoping for?

In answer to all the questions asked by the little boy, father told him that it was just a piece of art. Again, little boy amazed me with a series of new questions. “Baba! Why does this look so real? I want to meet these artists. Why are they so cruel? God is not cruel and He doesn’t paint such things. I want to be an artist and I’ll paint happy faces.” Father replied with the promise to help him.

Aren’t these questions frightening for us? Who are these artists? Aren’t we the artists? Yes, we all humans are artists! We are cruel by nature and we don’t care about the things which aren’t ours. And for the condition of Syria, we all could say one thing, “Dear Syria, we are sorry.” Is this enough?

This is how we are training our kids, in a space between lies and truth. Doesn’t this all shatter us? Have we lost all hope in existing humanity? Does humanity really exist? We all are pseudo-humans and human rights champions are in fact murderers. A man never killed another man like this in the history. Even then, a few people say that the world is becoming a better place to live in. Does the world only consist of North America, Europe and the society they are living in, and the brand shops, parks and schools around them?

Yes, Europe butchered Africans and drove them off their lands. America selected middle-east as their playground. Today, all we need is a little bit chaos; chaos in our minds, to revolutionize our thoughts, to understand what is going on in this world and who is responsible for all this. Only this will help us to prepare our new generation for the challenges they have to face regarding humanity in future.

For current situation of humanity, all I can say is,” Farewell, the humanity!”
