The devastating incident that took place a couple of days back in Karachi, where rogue members of a banned outfit tried to hurt Pakistan-China friendship, has gone viral all over the world – showcasing a feeble attempt that was routed by our diligent security forces.

The plan of mass casualties at the Chinese Embassy in Karachi was foiled due to the vigilant and timely action taken by security forces, the Sindh police in particular. In the incident, while trying to counter the outfit’s attempt, two policemen lost their lives, becoming shaheeds. Their names were Assistant Sub-Inspector Ashraf Dawood and Constable Amir.

Once the results were in and everybody in the embassy remained safe, people started to notice the martyrs’ great sacrifice. The Chinese, including their government and attached people in Pakistan, was all praises for the efforts.

However, giving back to the deep-rooted Pakistan China friendship, dubbed as higher than the Himalayas and deeper than the Arabian Sea, Chinese people in Pakistan started an initiative that showcases how important we are to one another.

The DCM of the Chinese Embassy in Pakistan, Lijian Zhao took charge of the donations and fund-raising for the families of the police martyrs. The manager of a Chinese consultancy company in Pakistan, Mr. Tang said: “Pakistani policemen died for the protection of the Chinese Consulate. Though the local government is obligated to provide a pension of RMB 50,000 to each family, it’s hardly enough to sustain their life in the future. We can never allow people who have made such a sacrifice for us to live in sufferings.”

As per the Chinese Economic Nest, “Zhao Lijian took the lead and donated RMB 2000. And when Ms. Cheng Wei, Chief Representative of Habib Bank Limited Beijing office heard the news from Chinese Economic Net, she donated RMB 4000 through a colleague in Pakistan.”

After the initiative of helping the martyrs families, Pakistanis started voicing their opinion and showcased a lot of faith in the Chinese, who were doing their best to help our people.

One Pakistani wrote: “After seeing this donation initiative for Yesterday martyrs of attack, My trust on Chinese govt is double now. friendship iron brother lives long.”

Some opined that the people related to the Embassy should take charge of the donations themselves, showing distrust on the Sindh government: “I appreciate the honor, respect you’re and our Chinese making for the martyred. Requesting you to donate the family directly. Do not through Sindh govt or any other way. Otherwise, the donation cannot be reached the families.”

This initiative taken by the people of China isn’t something they were responsible for. It is something they are thankful for. That Pakistan prioritized their security over everything else and those innocent policemen left their families behind for their protection. Pak-China Friendship Zindabad!
