Kasur or Qasur is located at a distance of almost 50 km from Lahore. It is the birthplace of legendary Sufi poet Bulleh Shah. His shrine is located in the center of Kasur city. During the last few years, there has been an evident increase in child abuse cases in Kasur and people are wondering if there is an organized mafia behind it.
Here is the chronological overview of child abuse cases in Kasur.
1. Pakistan’s biggest child abuse scandal – August 2015
It was termed as the biggest child abuse scandal in the history of Pakistan. It involved selling child pornography, blackmailing and demanding extortions from victims. The incident occurred in Hussain Khanwala village of Kasur and some local political personalities were also allegedly involved.
2. 6-year-old boy raped and murdered – 23rd August 2016
Police found the dead body of a six-year-old boy who had been missing for the last six days. The police suspected the victim had been sexually abused before being murdered.
3. 7-year-old girl raped and murdered – 12th April 2017
A 7-year-old girl was raped and later killed. The minor left her home in the evening but never returned. Police later found her dead body in a park. According to police, the girl was raped before strangulated.
4. 8-year-old Christian girl’s rape – 17th June 2017
28-year-old men allegedly tried to rape a minor Christian girl of 8 years old. According to a report of pakistanchristianpost.com; the minor was abused by a neighbor who entered the house while her parents were away.
5. Ten cases of rape in Kasur – 23rd July 2017
Dawn reported that 10 minors had been raped and killed in the past six months. All the victims were aged five to ten.
6. Little Zainab raped and killed – 10th January 2018
Zainab a 7-year-old girl had been found dead in a heap of garbage. She had been missing since January 4th. The post-mortem report confirmed that she was raped before being killed.
