The New Islamabad Airport Is Set for Its Opening on 14th August 2017

The moment we’ve all been waiting is ALMOST here. Yes, the new Islamabad airport is near its completion and it is set for its opening on 14th August 2017. The airport is which is being constructed in Fateh Jung will be the biggest in Pakistan and it will be the first Greenfield airport in Pakistan.

It is built on an area of 3,571.5 acres, had two runaways and it capable of handling the Airbus 380 which the previous airport was incapable of. The airport is expected to serve 15 million passengers in its first operational year and a possibility of serving 25 million after its further expansion over the upcoming years.

Not just that, but the terminal includes 15 gates with ten remote gates, a four-star hotel, duty-free shops, food court and 42 immigration counters. That’s how big it is going to be! As far as the name of the airport is concerned, it still stands undecided. However, the Federal Cabinet has taken an initiative to form a committee to help finalize a name for the new airport. We can’t wait for its reveal!

After the major renovation, Pakistanis can’t seem to contain their excitement for the opening since this was something they’ve waited years to see because of the awful condition of the previous airport. We wish to see such changes in other cities of Pakistan and not just in the Capital.  Pakistan, you’re getting there.
