Foreigners coming to Pakistan already keep a very shady opinion about the country and the security measures present. With street crime at a peak in cities like Karachi and Lahore, it was only a matter of time before the capital city felt its toll as well.

In a very embarrassing incident, for the second time, a foreigner was robbed in the capital city, Islamabad. This time, it was an Australian woman who was out shopping in the very posh F-6 sector of Islamabad. Previously, a Canadian senator had been robbed in the same neighborhood.

The woman, Jennifer Isobel McKay, was sitting in her car when the goon approached her vehicle and put a pistol to her head. They took away her bag which included a lot of valuables including her phone, laptop, a camera, $250 and Rs. 10,000 cash.

“I was robbed in my car at gunpoint in the car parking, F-6 Super Market at 7:20 pm. They pointed a gun to my head and grabbed my handbag and ran,” Mrs. McKay told the Islamabad police. A case of snatching has been registered in the Kohsar Police Station of the capital city against an unidentified man.

Snatchings have been occurring very often in the famed Super Market of sector F-6 where motorcyclists come and loot people. Two foreigners have already fallen prey to the snatchers, with many locals making the list as well.

Surely, the Assistant Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner will be looking into the matter and taking steady measures to counter this newfound scourge in the posh locality of Islamabad. The news, however, does not make a very pretty headline for Pakistan.
