In 1666, Isaac Newton witnessed an apple fall from a tree, giving the theory of gravity. In 2017, tech giants Apple slowed down old iPhones so people go out and buy millions of new ones! That’s how it goes in today’s world.

Yes, you’re reading it absolutely correct! Apple has admitted that they have slowed down all old iPhones, including the models: iPhone 5, 6 and 7. The reason? Apple is facing a lot of difficulties in selling their new products, which of course are the iPhone 8 and iPhone X!

The device tapping system, which means slowing down of all old Apple products, especially iPhones, is done with the latest updates that have been brought to the users on their phones. The Apple iOS updates 10 and above have slowed down old phones as they cannot cope with the increasing demand for the software now.

To be very fair, Apple does not care about this step, as in the market, it is profit > than self-respect. People are now being forced to pay more money and buy new Apple iPhones, even if they did not want to change their old handsets. The tech giants have now confirmed our suspicions, some models are deliberately slowed down with age.

As per the BBC, Apple said:  “Lithium-ion batteries become less capable of supplying peak current demands when in cold conditions, [when they] have a low battery charge or as they age over time, which can result in the device unexpectedly shutting down to protect its electronic components. Last year, we released a feature for iPhone 6, iPhone 6s and iPhone SE to smooth out the instantaneous peaks only when needed to prevent the device from unexpectedly shutting during these conditions.

We’ve now extended that feature to iPhone 7 with iOS 11.2 and plan to add support for other products in the future. Our goal is to deliver the best experience for customers.”

A Harvard team researched and found out that when the new iPhone 8 and X launched some months ago, one of the most searched words on Google were: “iPhone Slow” — which is proof that the phones indeed have been forced to slow down.
